About

Welcome to my blog! I am going to attempt to review every film I see at the cinema this year…
These won’t necessarily be in order of release, more likely in the order that I see them, so don’t be surprised to see a review of a film released a month ago! Also, given my predilection for Hollywood rather than art house or world cinema, expect these to be of the mainstream variety…
I hope you enjoy reading, feel free to leave comments – but nothing mean please!

I linked from the Guardian to your blog. Nice work. Keep it up. It would be useful to know a bit more about who you are, just because its nice to have a frame of reference about a writer. Where you are, what you do for a living, where you see the films etc. Have you heard of aintitcoolnews, they guy who does that used to often give details of where he saw the film and what the audience was like. Its trivial but its different. Hes a big star in the US now.

Hi Kenny, thanks for your comments. By day, I am a mild-mannered PhD student – this site is really just a bit of fun, and to keep me writing, even if it’s non-academic! I live in London, and tend to see most films at my local multiplex, but occasionally visit other cinemas like the BFI and the Imax. Am a bit sporadic with my cinema-going, quite often I won’t see anything for a week, and then see three films in two days! If there’s anything else you want to know, just ask! 🙂

I too Heart the movies I really like your work here you should be a professional critic. I see at least one film a week sometimes two and usually post a paragraph about it on Empireonline.com I wish I lived in London because it is more culturally alive and has screenings of most films that arent often shown at my multiplex. There is however a small theatre devoted the arts that gets some films later which I go and see sometimes Im looking forward to “A Prophet”.
